Over at the Post, Jim Spencer has a great column outlining the latest problems with trying to be all things to all people — in other words, the problems with being “Both Ways” Bob Beauprez. Both Ways is now running into problems with his latest stance, signing a petition that would not only turn the clock back on Referendum C — but would actually make the ability to deliver government services WORSE than before the passage of Referendum C. From the article:
So let Beauprez explain the referendum’s evils to old folks who just got their real-estate tax break back because of C.
Let him explain to college students why they didn’t deserve the extra money C provided.
Let him explain to commuters why they should forgo C-financed roads and sit day after day in gridlocked traffic so they can get 50 bucks back at the end of the year.
Let him explain to business-minded Republicans how to pay for infrastructure needed to attract good jobs.
Then let him ask all these people for their votes.
If Bob Beauprez can’t grasp the economic myopia that took down Marc Holtzman, he doesn’t deserve to be governor. And this time, when it comes to Referendum C, he can’t have it both ways.
The people of Colorado have spoken; they want a government that works for them, not against them. Apparently, they’re going to have to speak again this November and keep this kind of dangerous thinking out of the governor’s mansion, as well. When you even have Mike Coffman, a key in the Republican establishment, saying you’re wrong, as a Republican, you’ve got a problem.

Meanwhile, the Colorado House Democrats continue to innovate and communicate. As I mentioned in an earlier post, there are a lot more Democrats running for the State House than Republicans this year statewide. While we were busy preparing for the State Assembly, the House Dems were busy putting up their new website and blog. If you get a chance, you should take a look:

The House Dems do a good job of keeping the blog updated daily, with news about Democratic candidates statewide. They even have an RSS/Atom feed, if you use a news reader (as I do) to track blog posts across a spectrum of sites.
