The DNC held its full meeting this morning here in Phoenix. As folks left the meeting, they were greeted by the Colorado delegation handing out pens and mints, with labels on the pens with the above image. (Note, please, that this was something I whipped up in about half an hour, and is likely nothing at all like what the “official” logo will look like if/when we submit a bid.)
The response to Denver ranged from “Wow!” to “Yeah, I guess I can live with Denver.” However, the responses were universally positive, and the buzz we are creating here in Phoenix for the convention bid is palpable. And people are using their pens; I was in a technology session for state party chairs, vice chairs and staff this afternoon, and nearly half the room was taking notes with their new Denver pens.
There is also some separate buzz being created in Denver’s favor online. In response to news that Denver was one of 33 cities that received a “pre-bid” letter from the DNC this week, excitement is truly building for Denver — a DailyKos article posted yesterdayhas an online poll which shows Denver the clear favorite among online activists. Denver is dominating the ten-city poll with 42% of the vote. The runner up (New Orleans) lagged behind with only 15% of the vote.

In addition, I received an e-mail last night about a new blog that is focusing on the different efforts going into bidding for the 2008 Convention. A quick review of the “2008 Democratic Convention Watch” reveals that Denver is truly the early front-runner in this effort… but, of course, there is still much work to be done.

Now this is some exciting news!! Sure would be GRAND to see the White House taken back starting in my state!!! If we can also get rid of Musgrave in the bargain, my decade would be complete! OoohRAH!!!!
Dem Convention in Denver?
Democratic Convention Watch
I’ve been a big proponent of single-district blogs, but this endeavour takes specialization to a whole new level. And I gotta say, I love it. Take a look at 2008 Democratic Convention Watch, a site devoted purely to news about the next Dem convention …
